Job Overview
As an AI Agent Engineer (Rust), you will contribute to the design and development of the core intelligence layer of our next-generation cybersecurity platform.
Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining distributed, production-grade AI agents that support autonomous reasoning, decision-making, orchestration, and secure interactions across IoT and edge environments.
You will work on backend systems that enable AI agents to operate reliably at scale, integrating LLMs, reasoning pipelines, telemetry streams, and secure device communication into a cohesive and high-performance platform.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, contributing to architectural decisions and helping evolve our AI-driven cybersecurity platform across multiple products and real-world deployments.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop the core AI Agent framework powering autonomous cybersecurity capabilities.
- Implement high-performance backend services in Rust to support agent execution, state management, and distributed coordination.
- Design robust APIs enabling secure interaction between agents, devices, and external services.
- Architect event-driven infrastructures that allow AI agents to process telemetry and trigger real-time actions.
- Develop memory architectures (short-term, long-term, contextual) for AI agents operating in dynamic environments.
- Integrate LLMs and reasoning engines into production-safe, observable, and controllable systems.
- Ensure reliability, observability, and security of agent pipelines (metrics, tracing, logging, guardrails).
- Model complex multi-tenant data systems supporting AI-driven workflows across products.
- Collaborate with security, product, and DevOps teams to ensure safe deployment of AI-driven capabilities.
Requirements
- Experience as an Agent Engineer, with expertise in distributed systems and platform engineering.
- Proficiency in Rust, with good knowledge of concurrency, performance, and systems design.
- Experience designing and deploying AI-powered systems or agent-based architectures in production.
- Good understanding of LLM integration patterns, reasoning loops, tool-use frameworks, and AI orchestration.
- Experience building event-driven or message-based distributed systems.
Nice to Have
- Strong API design skills (REST/gRPC), including versioning and cross-service communication.
- Experience with data modeling for complex, multi-tenant or multi-product environments.
- Familiarity with telemetry pipelines and high-throughput data processing.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and Linux environments.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of security principles, including authentication, encryption, identity management, and safe AI deployment practices.
- Ability to own systems end-to-end, from architecture to production operations.
- Background in cybersecurity, IoT, or edge computing is preferred.
Why Join Us?
- Build real-world AI Agents that operate in high-impact cybersecurity environments.
- Work at the intersection of Rust, distributed systems, AI orchestration, and security.
- Tackle complex challenges around safe autonomy, scalability, and real-time reasoning.
- Collaborate with engineers and researchers pushing the boundaries of AI in security.
- Grow in a fast-moving, international environment focused on innovation and technical excellence.
- Join a flexible, inclusive workplace built on trust, curiosity, and meaningful impact.
Location
Remote (Europe) – based in Rome and able to work from the office, or willing to relocate in Rome preferred.
