๐Ÿข The Company

This is an early-stage infrastructure company building the web access layer for AI agents.

AI systems increasingly need to search, extract, and structure information from the open web. Most of that workflow remains brittle due to dynamic websites, inconsistent HTML, rate limits, noisy pages, incomplete context, and extraction pipelines that frequently break when pages change.

The company is building an API that enables agents to interact reliably with web data: search, retrieve, parse, structure, and use information without every team rebuilding the same infrastructure from scratch.

The core thesis is simple: over the next few years, AI agents will become one of the primary users of the web. They will require infrastructure designed for machines, not humans.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ The Role

You will serve as the technical bridge between the product and its most important users.

This is not a traditional Sales Engineering position.

You will:

  • Write production-quality code
  • Run technical discovery sessions
  • Build proofs of concept
  • Debug customer workflows
  • Translate real-world usage into product feedback

You will work closely with developers, founders, and engineering leaders building AI-powered systems that rely on web data.

Your role is to understand what customers are building, demonstrate how the platform fits into their architecture, and help transform vague use cases into working technical implementations.

The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer who enjoys customer-facing work and wants to operate at the intersection of product, infrastructure, and market demand.

๐ŸŒ The Technical Challenge

The web was designed for humans navigating pagesโ€”not for thousands of AI agents making structured decisions from unstructured information.

A successful abstraction layer must support:

  • Search and retrieval across noisy and rapidly changing web sources
  • Reliable extraction from dynamic websites
  • Structured outputs ready for agent workflows
  • Prompting and context configuration adaptable to different use cases
  • Production-grade reliability, latency, and error handling
  • Developer experience that makes adoption effortless

The challenge is not building a single impressive demo.

The challenge is helping customers move from demos to repeatable production workflows and turning those learnings into product improvements.

๐Ÿš€ What You'll Own

Technical Discovery

  • Understand customer goals and workflows
  • Identify where web data fits within their systems
  • Surface technical constraints and requirements

Proofs of Concept

  • Build tailored examples and integrations
  • Demonstrate value on real-world customer problems
  • Validate technical feasibility

Technical Demos

  • Present the platform to developers, founders, and engineering leaders
  • Explain technical concepts clearly and credibly

Solution Design

  • Design implementation strategies across:
    • Search
    • Extraction
    • Prompting
    • Context management
    • Structured outputs

Customer Advisory

  • Become the trusted technical partner for customers evaluating production adoption

Product Feedback

  • Identify recurring failure modes
  • Surface missing features
  • Highlight API friction points and edge cases

Product Contribution

  • Collaborate directly with Product and Engineering
  • Help close gaps revealed through customer usage

Developer Education

  • Create examples, guides, and reusable implementation patterns
  • Reduce onboarding friction for future customers

๐Ÿ‘ค Who This Is For

You are likely a strong fit if you have:

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals
  • Deep understanding of APIs, systems, data flows, and tradeoffs
  • Hands-on coding ability
  • Comfort building examples and debugging integrations
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Strong customer-facing judgment
  • High autonomy and self-direction
  • Interest in AI infrastructure, search, retrieval, or agent systems
  • Product intuition and developer empathy
  • High standards combined with low ego

The strongest candidates can:

  • Understand customer problems quickly
  • Reduce complexity to the right abstraction
  • Build the first working implementation
  • Recognize which solutions should become product features

โž• Nice to Have

  • Experience with APIs or SDKs
  • Scraping and browser automation
  • Search and retrieval systems
  • RAG architectures
  • LLM agents
  • Data extraction pipelines
  • Experience working with technical founders
  • Developer-facing products
  • Startup environments
  • Python
  • TypeScript
  • Modern AI tooling
  • Web infrastructure

โŒ This Role Is Probably Not For You If

  • You want a pure backend engineering role
  • You want a pure sales role
  • You dislike customer interaction
  • You are uncomfortable speaking with developers and engineering leaders
  • You need highly structured task lists
  • You dislike debugging messy real-world workflows
  • You prefer large-company processes over startup autonomy

๐Ÿ† Culture

The team is young, technical, and highly results-oriented.

The operating model resembles a sports team more than a traditional corporate department.

Core principles:

  • Results matter more than hours worked
  • Autonomy is the default
  • Objectives matter more than process
  • Learning speed matters
  • Ownership is expected

This environment is ideal for people who want responsibility early and do not need layers of management to create impact.

โฐ Why Now

The company sits at the intersection of three major shifts:

  1. AI agents increasingly require reliable access to web data.
  2. Developers need infrastructure that abstracts away brittle scraping and extraction.
  3. Companies are building workflows where agents continuously search, retrieve, and structure information.

The company is still early enough that a Founding / Forward Deployed Engineer can influence far more than customer engagements.

The patterns you discover with customers can directly shape:

  • Product direction
  • API design
  • Onboarding experience
  • Documentation
  • Developer education
  • Go-to-market strategy

For engineers who want to work close to frontier AI adoption while remaining deeply connected to users, this is one of the highest-leverage roles in the company.
