Social Media Associate (Freelance)

Newsweek is seeking a U.S.-based Social Media Freelancer to provide weekend coverage for a three-month assignment. The freelancer will post and manage content across Newsweek’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, Threads, WhatsApp, Reddit, and LinkedIn), create and schedule four posts per hour during weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 am ET to 7:00 pm ET), monitor and respond to audience engagement, collaborate with editors to amplify breaking news, track performance and report analytics, and ensure brand consistency and alignment with editorial priorities. Requirements include prior experience managing social media accounts for a brand or publication, strong understanding of social platforms and trends, ability to work independently and make quick editorial judgments, excellent communication and attention to detail, weekend availability, and U.S.-based location.
